弘明寺はオフィスから歩いていける距離にあります。横浜市内最古の寺として知られる高野山真言宗の「瑞應山 蓮華院 弘明寺（ぐみょうじ）」。およそ1300年もの歴史あるお寺だそうです。お寺の言い伝えによると奈良時代の721（養老5）年に善無畏（ぜんむい）三蔵というインドのお坊さんがこの土地を訪れ、山にたなびく紫の雲を見て「後々ここは仏教の聖地になるであろう」と七ツ石（ななついし）と呼ばれる結界石を置いたのがはじまりとされています。山門には、横浜市の有形文化財に指定されている、鎌倉時代に作られた「阿吽」仁王様があります。

現在、私の住民登録は横浜市になっているため横浜市長選挙の投票券がオフィスに来ていました。22日の日曜日が投票日ですが、22日は、鎌倉から横浜へ行く用事もないので、今日、期日前投票をしてきました。投票場所はオフィスの近く、弘明寺の図書館でした。
